The word “Juneteenth” comes from the union of the dates “June” and “Nineteenth”. This day is commemorated on June 19, 1865, when the text of the last slavery was announced. Two years later, the MNC Payson Proclamation was effective, but the text reached 19. Thus, June 19 became the day of the final end of slavery in American history.
