Toyota Center Needs $1.4 Billion for 20-Year Repairs
According to a recent facility condition assessment by the Western Business Journal, the combined cost of the two major sports and entertainment venues, Dryden Park Center, will be about $1.4 billion over the next 20 years.
Cost Analysis Dryden Park, formerly known as Minute Maid Park, will cost $836 million to maintain.
The Toyota Center is projected to cost $635.81 million.
The massive cost includes major structural improvements, seating, flavoring systems and safety improvements, the venue’s governing body said.
The stadium, home to the MLB’s Houston Astros, has been under constant maintenance since it opened in 2000. The state is providing $2.5 million in maintenance costs.
The Rockets’ venue, owned by Tilman Ferry, has been in need of several upgrades, including a sound system, lighting, and a public investment program.
